These are the some of the artist work that was shown to me during the presentation part of the session. I think that artist work is always beneficial to helping the flow of the work. I want to be able to use the artist inspiration, within my own work.
Josef Albers – Homage To The Squares
Gerhard Ritcher – Colour Charts, there is also a colour wheel that we have been recommended to get, which I am going to invest in because I feel like it was going to help me a lot more.
These were the photographs that I created, thinking about colour and placement. There was an instagram page called ‘Things Organised Neatly’. This page shows item placed neatly, and taking colour into consideration as a priority.
I thought of using pink as my favourite colour is actually my favourite colour, so I seemed to have more pink coloured items in my bag that I bring to uni. The layout is very particular, but I would like to expand more of these in my portfolio because I feel like it can be really interesting as a small little project. I thought I would use the colour pencils in a random order to create a line drawing to show colour, and to show being neat as it was about layout as well. I got the pencils straight out of pencil case so it was completely random, and free.
The next part of the day was to create the colour swatches on a random photograph that we chose. I wanted to do Sponge Bob Square Pants, but I felt that was too easy, and that wasn’t going to challenging me. The object of the project was use the eyedropper tool and create colour squares of all the colours in the photograph. I used a photograph of a rusty ship in water as I felt like that would be quite challenging, and would be interesting.

The rest of the session was doing research on my idea for the way finding & super graphics work. I am a bit confused on what I actually want to do. I want to do it based on the London underground tube, and how the maps are so distinctive. However, I think I have set my standards to high for this. I don’t know why, but I feel like it will be too challenging, or it won’t go to how I am thinking about the idea in my head. I am quite confused at the moment, but I am hoping the group critique will help me a lot.
I am going to be creating a 5 page PDF powerpoint for the critique, but I do have a few initial ideas which I have created which is the following:
I want to think more about my idea, and how I can use the space around the peninsula , and think about the best way to grab attention. I am more leaning towards using actual graphic elements of banners, posters, large scale objects to grab the attention of the general public, trying to be grab primary and secondary audiences.
